We have been training mules and horses for several years now. We
like to take a slow and calm approach when starting a young animal.
We do a lot of round pen work as well as various other training techniques
from the ground. We don't generally accept any animals for less than
60 days and really prefer 90 days to get a real nice start on one.
Chris has trained three mules specifically (Sienna, Raisin, and Dream)
for the 3 Year Old Futurity* at various shows. This takes tons of time and
repetition. Chris rides these mules for 8 or 9 months. The hard work pays
off by being undefeated at both of the futurities at the All Star Show in
Columbia, MO in 2003 and 2004 and the Iowa Donkey and Mule Society (IDMS)
Show in Bloomfield, IA in 2003, 2004 and 2008. The 3 Year Old Futurity
includes Halter, Trail and Western Pleasure.
The Copyright colts are old enough to start riding and are doing
excellent. All of the colts have been trail riding machines with the
willingness, disposition and brains to do it all. We have had several very
satisfied customers.

to move each part to make the animal soft and supple and under control.

Chris and Copyright's Perfect Dream on the trailer after unloading
hay. Chris had me pull the truck forward while she was standing on it to
see what she would do. She didn't mind at all. The Copyright mules are
great minded! |

Chris helping visitors, Clinton, Abby, Emma and Hannah, learn the
basics of riding by themselves. The kids had a great time learning how to
make the mules go forward, stop and some even trotted! It won't be long
and these kids will be riding down the trail all by themselves. |
